Workshop 16- AgrApps

Workshop on High Performance Computing and Collaborative Networking for Real Time Agricultural Applications

(AgrApps2011)

Call for Papers

As part of

The 2011 International Conference on High Performance Computing & Simulation

(HPCS 2011)

http://hpcs11.cisedu.info/

In Conjunction With

The International Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing Conference (IWCMC 2011)

July 4 – 8, 2011

Istanbul, Turkey

(Submission Deadline: February 28, 2011)

SCOPE AND OBJECTIVES

This workshop is organized with a particular focus on international agriculture and computing systems. Consumers demand high quality fruit and vegetables, which are often grown and processed in distant countries. So, producers must be able to gather, store and transmit information as their food products pass from one county or company to another. At each stage of the value chain, from the plant to the plate, computing systems are essential for obtaining these goals.

The workshop is proposed to bring together people from industry, academia and government who are working to innovate, develop and use high performance computing, networking and IT infrastructure, for the purpose of collaborative work in the field of agriculture and applications. These may include agricultural information databases, agricultural development banking systems, providing vital information to the farmers about weather changes and watering schedules, planning farming crops efficiently, and support various processes involved in the food chain.

The Workshop topics include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • On-line Control Systems for Food Processing

  • Real Time Collaborative Systems for Agricultural Applications

  • Image Processing for Fruit and Vegetable Selection

  • Food Safety, Traceability and Information Systems

  • Modeling of Agricultural Environments

  • Sensor Networks for Environmental Monitoring

  • Applications of Wireless and Sensor Networks in Agriculture

  • Soil and Plant Sensors

  • RFID Applications to Agriculture

  • Use of Mobile and Pervasive Devices in Agriculture

  • Mobile Systems for Agricultural Management

  • Web based Collaborative Applications for Agriculture

  • Precision Agriculture

  • GIS Systems for Agriculture

  • Weather Forecasting & Modeling

  • Remote Sensing for Agriculture

  • Automation, Robotics and Auto-Guidance for Fruit and Vegetable Production

PAPER SUBMISSIONS

You are invited to submit original and unpublished research works on above and other topics related to agricultural applications of computer modeling, simulation and real-time control. Submitted papers must not have been published or simultaneously submitted elsewhere. Submission should include a cover page with authors' names, affiliation addresses, fax numbers, phone numbers, and authors email addresses. Please, indicate clearly the corresponding author and include up to 6 keywords from the above list of topics and an abstract of no more than 450 words. The full manuscript should be at most 7 pages using the two-column IEEE format. Additional pages will be charged additional fee. Please include page numbers on all preliminary submissions to make it easier for reviewers to provide helpful comments. Submit a PDF copy of your full manuscript via email to the Workshop organizer at pbro@utalca.cl.

Only PDF files will be accepted. Each paper will receive a minimum of three reviews. Papers will be selected based on their originality, relevance, contributions, technical clarity and presentation. Authors of accepted papers must guarantee that their papers will be registered and presented at the workshop. Accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings which will be made available at the time of the meeting.

If you have any questions about paper submission or the workshop, please contact the organizer.
